LifeWatch.be Data Explorer - Marine MammalsThis is one of the thematic portals within the RShiny LifeWatch.be Data Explorer. This portal gives access to the C-POD data collected in the framework of the Cetacean Passive Acoustic Network, as part of the Flemish LifeWatch Marine Observatory; and provides an interface to explore and analyze these data. Some of the more recent data is temporarily under moratorium and therefore proteced by password access. The development of a permanent network of C-PODs in the Belgian Part of the North Sea (BPNS), as part of the Cetacean Passive Acoustic Network, started in 2014. 10 C-PODs are moored on the seafloor across the BPNS. The C-POD register passively the echolocation of harbour porpoise (Phocoena phocoena). Habour porpoises produce typical narrow-band high frequency sounds (NBHF) and are identified as such. |
The Rshiny LifeWatch.be Data Explorer has been developed by the Flanders Marine Institute (VLIZ) in 2015-2016.
